Ryan seemed to watch Zara's every movement as she pulled her hair forward, though it was more like someone who was trapped within a hypnotic trance than a hunter observing its prey. "That sounds like a great idea. I'd love to get to know this place more," he said. "In fact, we don't have to wait until I finish this. We can go right now if you want and I can just continue eating it while we walk." Spending anymore time with the gorgeous redhead sounded like a wonderful idea and walking around looking at the sites seemed to him the best way to do that. Who knows? Maybe I'll get to visit where ever she lives. That would probably help tell me more about the stuff she's interested in and help me get to know her more.
Oh God, she's perfect. Ryan seemed to get lost in her brown eyes as they stared into his, only snapping out of it when he remembered she had just asked him a question. Shaking his head, he replied, "No, no. I like listening to you talk." It was then that he remembered again the existence of his sandwich that he had picked up only moments ago and took it out of the pastry bag it had gotten cold in. Taking a large bite out of it, he set it back down on the bag, using it as an improvised plate. After the young hunter had finished chewing, he picked it back up and held it up to Zara. "Do you, uh, want a bite? It's got ham, swiss, and egg in it with a croissant bun. It's pretty darn good," he offered.
Zara had no idea what she had unleashed when she had asked Ryan what games he liked to play and what consoles he liked to enjoy them on. His inner geek now awakened, Ryan replied, "Well I started out as a console gamer with the original Xbox, playing games like Halo, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, et cetera. You know, the games every mom would get mad about when they saw their son playing something so violent." The young man let out a small chuckle as he remembered the old days when the world seemed so much simpler. "When the 360 came out I was probably one of the first kids in my town to get in line at our local store. I can't even remember the name of the store, though I know it wasn't a GameStop. Anyway, that doesn't matter. So yeah, played a lot of Mass Effect series, Batman: Arkham City, Halo 3, and Reach on that. It was only once the next generation of consoles began to roll out that I met some friends who would get me into PC gaming. Played the heck out of XCOM and the Dark Souls series. Too bad I had to sell my rig before the third game in the series released because money got so tight."
It was at that moment, Ryan realized just how much he had been talking and with an embarrassed smile he scratched the back of his neck and said, "Oops. Sorry, you probably just wanted a simple one sentence answer and I went on a whole big rant of my life history. I'm such a goof. What about you? What do you prefer?"
OOC: Oops. Forgot the mention thing. Just going to edit that in.
"Well maybe you can show me sometime when there's no one else around?" Ryan replied with an innocent smile, the innuendo completely going over his head. When she asked him of his own hobbies, the young man squirmed in his seat slightly before replying, "Well, um, I'm kind of a huge geek. I spend a lot of my free time... Actually probably way too much of it, playing video games and reading comic books. God I feel like such a dork admitting that out loud to a pretty girl like you."
If Zara thought that she had seen Ryan become as red in the face as he could possibly be, she was soon proven very wrong as realization of what he had just said out loud hit him. Oh no. What have I done? I just called her pretty! In front of her face! After only knowing her for like five minutes! This is bad. She's going to think I'm so frickin' clingy and now I've completely missed any chance of impressing her. Abort. Abort. Abort! Despite the absolute panic going on inside his head though, the inexperienced hunter didn't make any other kind of movement or changes in facial expression besides the color in his face. One might be reminded of a deer when in the headlights of an oncoming truck.
OOC: Well that makes things a slight bit awkward for you and Zoelle. Don't know if it's as awkward as the one with Ryan, but still awkward.
Ryan's cheeks turned a much brighter shade of red as he was left alone with Zara. Out of the three he had found her to be the most attractive, most likely due to their mutually shared hair color. He couldn't help it, the sight of another ginger always seemed to make him drool, though thankfully not literally. His friends back in high school had made fun of him for it sometimes by telling him it was an "animal impulse to continue his species." Gross teenage sexual jokes aside, the clueless hunter was in fact happy to get some alone time with her, no matter how nervous and embarrassed he was.
Then she asked what he would do to pass the time. The pause before her last word caused way more suspense for Ryan than she most likely intended as his heart seemed to skip a beat. It was only for a moment, but to him it seemed to last a lifetime as he waited to hear it. Her leaning in closer and listening to that seductive whisper really only made it worse, as he was able to closely admire her beautiful facial features. God, she's so pretty. "W-well I, um... I don't think I have any, uh, interesting stories of any real noteworthiness. My life's pretty darn boring really," he replied with a nervous laugh. "H-how about you tell me more about yourself? You already know what I do for work. What do you do? Got any hobbies?"
Zia's comment made Ryan laugh at himself, taking a minute to collect himself afterwards. "Yeah, that's some pretty damn useful advise," he said to her. "You wouldn't happen to know anyone that could give a few pointer's would you? Unless I fall into a vat of mysterious chemicals or get bitten by a magical wolf and gain super senses of some kind that increase my hearing and sight, I don't see anyway I'm going to improve my tracking skills anytime soon," the young hunter continued.
Suddenly, at that very moment, Ryan realized a mistake. Something he had forgotten and only now remembered. "Crap. My sandwich," he said aloud before quickly turning around to the counter and picking his meal up. It was then that he noticed the very muscular and large man who the woman at the register was flirting with. A short look and the young man was immediately intimidated. Doing his best to avoid looking directly in the man's direction, Ryan picked up his now cold sandwich and returned to Zara, Zia, and Zoelle.
Once he was sitting down again, the unskilled hunter noticed Zia's anxious mood thanks mostly to Zoelle asking her. "Yeah, are you okay? You're not looking so hot... I mean you are hot in like the attractive sense, but um... I was, uh... Y'know... Ahhh!" Filled with shame and embarrassment, Ryan's head crashed against the tabletop as he released a quiet groan. Why couldn't he just keep his mouth shut.
"Business actually," Ryan replied to Zara. He was tempted to just come out and tell the truth, that he was an amateur werewolf hunter from America who was attempting to find lycans in Canada due to his unsuccessfulness back in America, but experience had taught him that was a bad idea. He still had bruises from when that old lady beat him with her purse back in New York. At least his eyes had recovered the pepper spray. "I've been jumping from job to job for a while now, but currently I'm trying out hunting. I seem to be a natural when it comes to shooting thanks to lessons my dad gave me when I was young, so I figure this is my best bet. Biggest problem I've found has just been trying to find anything," he told the group of women, the only thing keeping him from having to pull his infamously bad poker face being the fact that nothing he said was actually untrue. The young man had just left out important bits of information.
"Th-thank you," Ryan said when the other ginger invited him to the table. His cheeks went red when the purple haired girl, who introduced herself as Zoelle, made a joke about biting. Think of a funny response, Ryan. Think of a funny response... No, I've got nothing. Then the girl named Zia introduced herself. "Oh no, I would never do that. Well not unless you wanted me to. Um, I mean, like if you directly asked me, but I honestly would probably feel uncomfortable about it since I just met you and.... You know what? I'm just going to shut up now before I stick my foot farther down my mouth," he replied awkwardly. "Oh, and my name is Ryan by the way. It's nice to meet you all, too," he decided to add before returning to silence until he decided to make a fool of himself again, something that would probably only take a couple seconds.
While scanning the cafe for anything interesting, Ryan couldn't help but notice the three women that continually gave small, short glances in his direction. No one else in the cafe seemed to be paying him any mind and the place was pretty sparsely decorated. Why not go spend some time talking to a group of cute girls while I wait for my sandwich? Maybe they're even interested in me? How cool would that be?! Just arrived in a new town and already have girls fawning for me. Just like one of my Japanese animes! Now what was that pick-up line Dad told me? Pulling out a notebook, the young man began to flip through the pages. Ah. Here we are. "Pick up lines for cafes." Let's see... Ooh, I'll use this one: "Hey there, how'd you like for me to add some pumpkin spice to your life?" Closing the book, he strolled confidently toward the small group.
With an innocent smile and small wave of his hand, Ryan greeted the rogues with a friendly, "Hello." Dammit Ryan, you've already messed up. It was supposed to be "hey" not "hello." You've got to think of something else now. "I couldn't help but, uh, notice you guys looking in my direction and... well... thought... um..." He started before trailing off into a whisper. "Oh God, where was I going with this?"
Walking into Toronto from one of the many Southern roads, Ryan adjusted the straps of his backpack as they pressed into his shoulders. He really should of thought ahead when buying ammo for his Remington Model 700, though it wasn't like foresight was his forte. His thoughts on past financial mistakes soon became worse though when his stomach began to growl. Digging into his pockets, he found what little cash was left from when he had sold his truck last week. Five seventy-one. That could probably get me a sandwich somewhere. Now what looks good?
Soon the occupants inside The Little Cafe would hear the door ring as Ryan walked through, making a bee line for the register to place his order. "Uh, hi. Um, could I get the... Ham and Swiss sandwich please? Yeah, that looks good," he said before handing over the exact amount listed on the menu above. As he waited near the order pick-up counter, the amateur hunter turned to look at the other customers that were minding their own business.
