Acacia would watch, from the corner of her eye, as the blonde Lycan, Phoenix, sauntered off to her own little spot. Offering little response or note that she cared at this exact moment, the lithe Alphess would shift upon bared feed. Finally, it would appear the household would come alive.
Genesis, one of the first to arrive at the house, soon entered, and Acacia would let smile toy upon her lips. Pulling her chin downwards, the pale creature would offer an inviting nod, glad to see the woman return. Then, soon enough, another with darker hair, Rayne, reappeared. Pale, jaded vision would watch the woman as she took note of Genevieve's displeasure to the other passing by. What had happened? Acacia obviously would not know, and as such, merely gave Rayne a nod of greeting before glancing towards Christian.
"It appears dinner may be under way sooner rather than later." Her voice was light, and held an air of toying tendencies as per always. The smile of pale, pink lips still worn as she rolled her shoulders and perked at the sound of yet another entering. Kari, and Willow soon filtered in, both taking in the sights of those already present before taken separate ways to interact with others. The Alphess offered both a nod if they glanced in her direction, yet, once more, remained silent.
She had no place to speak as of yet, and, as such, merely took in those around her. Watching their interactions, listening to their faint conversations and soon, her focus lingered back on the red dread-locked woman. Her beer seemingly empty as she moved through the kitchen to retrieve another as the final member, Everett, slunk through the entrance.
Everyone was present, and, this brought Acacia's smile to increase. Flesh parting to bare the pearly whites within as she rolled her shoulders. "Ah, my my, it appears everyone is now present." She would begin to speak. Her voice gaining volume as she audibly addressed everyone. "Let us get this meal underway. There should be a serving for you all, so do not hesitate to eat what is there."
There had only been two members she had not spotted, and, considering both never re-entered the house, she would not extend this meals invitation to them. They would miss out until it was time for the pack to hunt, to earn ranks and to bond. As she peered towards all the members, she would soon take her leave, following after the already moving silhouette of Genevieve.
When the woman all but started to withdraw the head-chair at the table, Acacia would pause in her tracks, "For you, Ma'dam." Genevieve had spoken quietly, almost silkily in a bashful type manner. Hardened jade gaze would linger over the attractive creature for a moment, almost as if assessing what to make of her movements. But, before long she would merely nod. Her lips still holding their curl of kindness as she moved to take a seat and spoke lightly back in return. "Thank you, Genevieve."
As she straightened herself up and pulled her chair beneath herself properly she would gesture to the table. "Please, everyone, do take a seat and dig in. Tomorrow we will hunt, but tonight, we will relax." Each word she spoke was clear, set and filled with a sense of dominance, no one that was present would get away from the meal, nor would they be excused from eating something be it a single piece of food or the entire plate.
Acacia herself, would not start eating yet. No, she would wait on everyone to take their seat, especially Christian. She offered him a smile, and patted the table beside his plate and chair. "Do come join me, Christian." She'd pipe up, she enjoyed having the Beta around, after all, he made her feel more at ease in the current situation. So many new faces, faces that could easily threaten her home if not treated cautiously.
It would hold true, that the Alphess would always keep this in mind, especially with the blonde woman, Phoenix and somewhat with the red-head beside her. Her bold motions giving Acacia reason to keep an eye on her considering her very short time as a Lycan, something felt slightly out of the ordinary.
Christian let his attention drift to and from the conversation, although not paying attention to much of what was being said. He knew that his attention would be drawn to two females in particular; Rayne and Kari. He liked the two of them well enough, if not more, than the others that were present. It had been a little while since his attention had been caught on anyone, but then again, anyone here would catch his eye. They were almost all extremely good looking, no matter what he tried to persuade to himself otherwise. But his eyes caught themselves upon the body of Rayne, noting how she said his name, and noting what she said. Bringing his attention then back to the dinner table, he brought himself to a seat, and placed his rear against the seat, looking towards the others.
Once everyone was at least settled down at the table, he would bring his hand to glide over towards the silverware. His eyes however, would look to Acacia, and drift over the table, only to land wherever Rayne had settled down. He would shift his gaze towards Kari at times too, but did not make it seemingly obvious that he was looking over the two, and instead ate his meal, waiting for the others to create conversation, while he simply sat there, waiting.
Kari Varnan
The worst thing about being lied to is knowing you're not worth the truth.
As silence settled over Kari and the other lycanthrope whom she had addressed, Kari felt her moment of pity and compassion for the other female drain away. "Oh..." the blond-haired lycan said, the hand which she had previously held out to shake falling to her side in a quite embarrassed manner. "I'm sorry..." With that, Kari turned and stepped away from the other female. Kari found herself feeling what to do, as many of the other lycanthropes present already engaged in conversation with one another, and several of the ones who were not were those who Kari had yet to find an opportunity to become acquainted with. Perhaps she could speak with Rayne or Willow? When she had spoken to them, though her previous conversations with them had been brief, both of the other females had seemed nice enough. As several of the others gathered in the kitchen began to take her place, Kari made her way over to Willow and Rayne, who were standing together, the latter seeming quite nervous, just as Kari herself was. The blond lycanthrope offered Rayne a nervous smile, as if to say 'You aren't the only one who is nervous'. She was just about to ask the dark haired female if she was alright when Acacia's voice broke through the gentle murmurs of the conversations around them.
"Ah, my my, it appears everyone is now present," the alphess said. "Let us get this meal underway. There should be a serving for you all, so do not hesitate to eat what is there. Please, everyone, do take a seat and dig in. Tomorrow we will hunt, but tonight, we will relax." As Acacia finished speaking, Kari looked to Rayne and and Willow with a hesitant expression. After a brief pause of silence, the young woman took her seat. At the moment, she had no one on either side of her. Seeing as this was the case, she looked up to Rayne and Willow with a smile, inviting them to come and sit with her if they so chose. She wouldn't mind the company of the two lycanthropes who she had already become acquainted with.
(OOC: Sorry if that first part's a bit awkward... Phoenix never replied and I wasn't sure what to do.)
"I'm glad you think so, Christian and I made dinner, so it should taste just as good as it smells." Rayne offered a small chuckle, Willow blinked in mild surprise, nodding and smiling awkwardly. She hadn’t expected the older lycanthrope to reply. “I’m sure it’ll be delicious,” Willow said. Her mind drifted to murderous thoughts.
The Alphess’ voice broke through the layer over the teenage lycanthrope’s mind. "Ah, my my, it appears everyone is now present. Let us get this meal underway. There should be a serving for you all, so do not hesitate to eat what is there. Please, everyone, do take a seat and dig in. Tomorrow we will hunt, but tonight, we will relax."
"So, where do you want to sit?" Rayne inquired. Willow’s mind turned to a blank. “Uh… How about there?” She had seen Kari, the nice one from before, inviting the two of them to sit next to her. She made her way over, greeting the blonde with a quick “Hi.”
Now Willow sat next to her. Awkwardly, she poured herself a glass of water. “So, both of you,” she began, realising a little too later it sounded rather rude. “Got found by the Council too? Or did you find the Council?” Willow took a sip from her glass, waiting for a reply. I suck at making conversation.
OOC: I'm gonna try to bring out Willow's personality a bit better later. Mentioned: @rayne , Kari Varnan
As she stood in the corner, watching the kitchen come to life, Phoenix's mind drifted to her memories. She was thinking of a time before she was turned, a time before running away. When she still had her sister by her side to protect her. She was so in depth with her thoughts, that she didn't see or hear the poor girl trying to talk to her. It wasn't until she'd walked away that she’d noticed and sent her an apologetic look. "Please, everyone, do take a seat and dig in. Tomorrow we will hunt, but tonight, we will relax." Acacia’s voice rang out, her tone suggested that there would be no skipping dinner, as if Acacia had managed to read Phoenix’s mind. Phoenix’s stomach recoiled at the smell of food as she took a seat at the end of the table, where there wasn’t a plate. It wasn’t that the food smelled bad, it smelled amazing but she was used to going without food for a long period of time, her body can’t handle the food without throwing it back up. Not only that, but as Christian had said earlier, there wasn’t enough food for all of them since he hadn’t been expecting two more Lycans to show. She was not going to take some one’s food away from them. From her seat, she gave Acacia a nod and a small smile of acknowledgement and gratitude at the permission to sit. She watched as Willow moved to sit next to the pretty blonde who had tried to talk to her earlier. Phoenix had unknowingly sat on the opposite side, a couple of seats away. She gives her an apologetic smile and mouths ‘Sorry.’ Her gaze travels to her right hand which lies on the table top, tracing swirls and patterns as her mind drifts back to her memories.
********** ‘Phoenix! Phoenix! Look at this!’ Flaming red hair flies after the little girl running down a hill. A smaller blond girl sits on a large boulder stringing together a necklace. Her head snaps in the direction of the voice and her face brightens with a wide smile. When the red headed girl reaches her, she reveals the prize she’d been carrying in her hands, it was a handful of teeth. They were an assorted lot, some white and smooth, some yellow and cracked from age, some curved and pointed, some were wide and flat, some were short, some were long. 'Will they work for your necklaces?' The blonde one, promptly named Phoenix, smiles and takes them. "All of them are perfect Dru! I'll get to work right away! Thank you so much!' The girl with the flaming red hair smiles as she watches her younger sister put the teeth in her bag strapped to her thigh. They both stand and run off into the forest surrounding them, not wanting to go back up that hill just yet.
Their laughter echoes throughout the trees as they run, racing each other to see who can run the fastest and dodge the most trees. They both pause at a stream to cool off and use it as a halfway mark. While Dru sits on a boulder, letting her bare toes skim the water, Phoenix is wading in the shallow, clear water. The water comes up to her calves as she looks at the bottom of the stream for skipping stones. Suddenly she is splashed, the cold water making her screech as it makes contact with her hot skin. She whirls around to see her older sister cackling, to which she grabs her by the wrist and yanks her down and into the water. Dru shrieks and Phoenix fills with satisfaction as she splashes her, letting her get a taste of her own medicine. "Ha! take that!" She shouts gleefully as Dru tries futilely to avoid the freezing water. Just before she can splash back, Phoenix darts away in the opposite direction, her voice fading as she yells, "Catch me if you can!" Phoenix makes it to the hidden structure in the leaves that they use as a tree house. She quickly scrambles up the ladder, bolts the trapdoor shut, and sits on it, waiting for her probably enraged big sister. It isn't long until she feels her sister banging on the door from below and her bellowing as she demanded to be let in. She clambers off of the door and lets her in, holding up a pillow, ready to attack if she needed to. Dru burst in, the light of the lanterns making her hair look like a living flame. Before she could do or say anything, Phoenix beans her with a pillow. Dru laughs, picks up another pillow, and launches into a pillow fight with Phoenix.
OOC: Just a lil' flashback for ya! Sorry I was gone for so long.
If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
Genevieve helped slide the chair beneath Acacia before sitting in her own. Once she had told everyone to eat, Gen would hesitate before digging in herself. She was nervous but kept it pushed down with the help of keeping her mind off of the situation and with the drink in hand. She listened to the small chatter going around the table but something lingered in her mind.
Acacia had mentioned hunting tomorrow. There would be only one type of hunting and that would be as a beast. She had already seen how the Alphess dealt with those who had different tastes in food, she doubted the leader of this pack would let even one of them stay out of the hunt.
Dread filled the pit of Gen's stomach. Her head swam and her vision blackened on the edges. Realizing she was not breathing, she took in a shaky breath. Nausea hit her like a train. Too many scents assaulted her nose from the deep breath she took. Letting out a startled gasp she jerked back, her chair clattering behind her as she stood up. One hand tightly grasped around her mouth and nose.
By now she could feel pressure building within the pit of her stomach. She wished that it was a sign she was going to hurl but no, this was the sign she would turn. She had no control over this, she always lost herself.
Fear gripped her heart as she let out a chocked groan of pain as she tried to stop the change. Her body began to shake and sweat as the change began to force itself on her. One large thrash had her slamming onto the ground on all fours. Her hand had to leave her mouth to stay supported.
By now growling could be evident to the rest of the group but Genevieve could not tell she was making any noise. All she could hear was the sound of her bones breaking and reforming as she tried to repress the shift. She would not turn into the thing she hated most.
Her effort was useless as another thrash accompanied by a loud snap had her side. By now she was passed out from the pain, the last thing she could hear was a low growling noise. She wondered vaguely if the noise came from her before her vision went black.
As Genevieve lost conciousness, the shift became effortless on her body as it quickly shifted into a Red Wolf. Bits of torn cloth littered the floor around the shaking form.
The wolf opened yellow orbs to stare directly at Acacia. Fear, confusion, and pain was all evident within them. Her form was crouched, ears flat against her skull and tail tucked tightly beneath her. Her lips were pulled back in a sneer.
Her body language spoke volumes. She was extremely afraid and tense. She was much like a cornered animal who had no idea where they were. This wolf was not the same Genevieve. She was completely different, no humanity was in her expressions. In this state human Gen did not exist, only her animal counterpart.
The red wolf pushed herself against the wall. Eyes darting about the table, looking for a way to escape. Snarls, whimpers, and growls escaped her maw from time to time, trying to decide which action she would take.
