"Business actually," Ryan replied to Zara. He was tempted to just come out and tell the truth, that he was an amateur werewolf hunter from America who was attempting to find lycans in Canada due to his unsuccessfulness back in America, but experience had taught him that was a bad idea. He still had bruises from when that old lady beat him with her purse back in New York. At least his eyes had recovered the pepper spray. "I've been jumping from job to job for a while now, but currently I'm trying out hunting. I seem to be a natural when it comes to shooting thanks to lessons my dad gave me when I was young, so I figure this is my best bet. Biggest problem I've found has just been trying to find anything," he told the group of women, the only thing keeping him from having to pull his infamously bad poker face being the fact that nothing he said was actually untrue. The young man had just left out important bits of information.
"A hunter, what an interesting profession, you rely completely on luck and skill, not your regular hour-by-hour occupations. Ryan, Dear, if you'll take some advice, don't hunt if you can't track. The deer don't exactly have bright neon signs pointing to them," Zia gave him a small glance. She called the ginger 'Dear' because it simply flowed well with the sentence. The human was interesting to be honest, she didn't find him attractive at the current moment but thought he was a little bit non-purposely funny in his awkward moments. Humans had begun to interest Zia less and less over the years. She would much rather have a mate who was a Lycan than a human, she truly didn't care what gender. The female swung both ways. Heck, her mate could even be a vampire, Zia didn't care. She wasn't outwardly romantic and had lost many of the hopeless romantic traits over the years. Zia did want to be loved though, even if she was a little bitchy. The Lycan looked around at everyone once again. She retained her poker face whilst thinking about love, she wasn't one to get all gushy. Zia took a glance out the window, then looked at her coffee, then back to everyone all in a quick moment, looking a little bit flighty or nervous. Ryan Thompson Zoelle Zara Bancroft OOC: I'm not tagging people as more of an alert to post, but I directly mentioned Ryan and nodded towards you. And I never said I was shipping Zaryan, but they would be ADORABLE
The devil said to the warrior. "You will be swept away in the storm," To which the warrior replied. "I am the storm,"
Zoelle
You are a vampire. Own it, live it, love it!
Soon enough, Zara sliced through the silence. She introduced herself, and leaned to rest forearms upon the table. "May I ask what you are doing here?" This question, brought Zoelle's own brows to raise. She casted a glance once more towards Ryan, wondering exactly what he was going to bring to the table. He didn't look very successful, not in the least. But, appearances could be deceiving.
"Business actually," The female vampire soon took on a somewhat confused yet curious expression, what kind of business had a bumbling dope out in this neck of the woods? "I've been jumping form job to job for a while now," Yes, of course that was to no surprise. "But currently, I'm trying out hunting," The female shifted the slightest in her seat as she started to peer around the entirity of the room, "I seem to be a natural when it comes to shooting thanks to lessons my dad gave me when I was young." Zoelle just let her eyes roll. "Perfect, more trigger happies for the world," she'd mumble under her breath, not audibly loud enough for human ears, but loud enough for the Lycans to catch. "So, I figured this is my best bed. Biggest problem I've found has just been trying to find anything."
Eventually she raised her head, grey contact covered eyes meeting the humans as she half-smiled, "What kind of game do you prefer? Herbivore, or, Carnivore?" At the mention of carnivore she shot a half-glance at the Lycans nearby. She was just toying with them, but, curiosity was definitely floating around.
Zoelle wouldn't focus upon the human for long, they got boring after a while. She herself had become quite the hunter, after all, suitable creatures to suckle the blood from didn't just wander through town. Except humans. And, she didn't rely on them, although at least once a week she would feed from one. To satisfy that urge of interaction.
"A hunter, what an interest profession, you rely completely on luck and skill, not your regular hour-by-hour occupations," Zia had begun to commentate also, glancing at the human as she did so, "Ryan, dear, if you'll take some advice, don't hunt if you can't track. The deer don't exactly have bright neon signs pointing at them." Zoelle tossed the woman a glance. Short, jagged black hair framed her face, black liner hugged her eyelids and her lips lush with bright red paint. Uncaring if she got caught, it was clear this particular female was quite open in her interests, human, Lycan or Vampire. Male or female. It all floated in her boat.
She'd spot Zia looking towards each individual for a split moment and caught her gaze when it landed upon her, she'd offer no reaction as Zia then looked over and out a window. She was starting to fidget in an odd manner. A cornered wolf, surrounded by guns almost. Yes, this was determinable when she looked to her coffee and then back to each person around her.
"Zia, lovely, do you need some fresh air?" Zoelle's voice was soft, she'd stare directly at the Lycan as she tilted her head forwards, violet locks of hair mixed with ebony sliding forwards to graze her cheeks as she merely awaited a response. Genuinely interested in finding out what was placing the woman on edge.
Haákon stepped out of his truck, shutting the door and locking it behind him. His suitcase was still inside with his sword safely tucked inside. He didn't go unarmed, oh no. Doing so would be tempting the fates, he never went anywhere without his sizeable dagger hidden in his boot. He hadn't had to use it in a few years, he didn't intend to use it, but he wasn't about to go without it. He didn't like that this oh so mysterious Council was trying to shove him back into a pack. He hadn't been in one since he gave his alpha title to his sister some 280 years ago. He wasn't used to it, as he had grown accustomed to living life as a rogue and fighting in different wars and battles. Certainly the customs had changed, since the world had changed. Unfortunately he had to change along with it, something he didn't enjoy doing at all. He didn't want to go straight to the pack house the Council had listed, he figured that if the Council were able to track him down in Texas, then they had to have been able to track down many others, chances are most of them had flocked to the pack house immediately. He didn’t want to overwhelm them, so he decided to just hole up in a little motel for the night.
He entered the café, seeing the inside was cozy and small, but not too crowded. It seemed that the only customers besides him, were two she wolves-- one wearing all black with vibrant red hair, the other with black hair and caramel skin-- a vampiress dressed as a goth in purple and black, and a ginger haired human male. ‘Poor kid, probably doesn’t realize the company he keeps.’ He notices something familiar about the human’s scent, but he couldn’t exactly place it. He nods to the three women and crosses to the ordering counter where a young teenage girl stands at the cash register. “Hi, welcome to the Little Café, what can I get you?” He examines the contents of the case next to the register. “Hi, can I have a turkey sandwich, a slice of that strawberry cheesecake, one of those large chocolate chip cookies and a cup of coffee?” When he speaks, his voice is deeply rich with a slight accent to it, an old one that is hard to place, the cashier practically melts at his voice. He watches as she composes herself and asks, “And what is the name for that order?” He considers giving her his real name, but he’d probably have to undergo the process of trying to spell it for her and explain the origin. “Eli,” He goes with the name he’d used to enlist in the army a few years ago. He chooses a table by the window, close enough to hear the trio of supernaturals and the human, but far away enough that it wouldn’t be suspicious.
He pulls out his sketchbook, a hobby he’d acquired long ago, and begins to sketch his favorite thing, Lilja. In this one she is smiling softly, wisps of hair fall out from her bun, softening the harshness of the uniform his father made all of the servants wear, making it more casual. He smiled as he drew her. She always managed to coax a smile out of him, no matter what. Carefully, he shaded in her dark hair and filled in the shadows. He did his best to capture the exact slope of her plump lips. Oh how he missed kissing them. With practiced precision, he gave soft strokes to replicate her almond shaped eyes. He loved to gaze into them, seeing the laughter and happiness that resided inside them. "I've been jumping from job to job for a while now, but currently I'm trying out hunting. I seem to be a natural when it comes to shooting thanks to lessons my dad gave me when I was young, so I figure this is my best bet. Biggest problem I've found has just been trying to find anything," The human male’s voice sounded, at the word ‘hunting’ he looked up sharply, his amber eyes narrowing and nostrils flaring as he traced his scent back to his memory. Obvious B.O., no tell-tale signs of a werewolf hunter, but he was still on edge, he could either be a normal huntsman, or a werewolf hunter. Instantly an image flashed into his mind, one of a hunter, but not just any hunter, a werewolf hunter. He pushed the image aside, the human didn't have the smell of werewolves on him, actually he didn't have a smell of any dead animals at all. ‘If he isn't a normal hunter that means that the pack could be in danger, but then again, he could just be a normal hunter. If he were, than that could lessen the amount of prey left available for the pack. Either way, he would be someone to keep an eye on.'
He was so deep in thought, that he hadn’t heard the waitress trying to get his attention. He snapped out of his memories and turned his attention to her. “Oh, sorry I didn’t hear you, I was thinking about something.” She smiles and hands him everything he ordered. “Thank you, sorry again.” He says politely. He notices her looking him over, she soon asked. “Those are dog tags, did you serve in the military?” He pulls out his dog tags, letting his pendent stay hidden under his shirt. “Why yes, I served in the American Military for a few years. I had three tours.” He says before she could ask more. He puts sugar and creamer into his coffee and senses her still standing over him. “That’s a pretty drawing. Who is it? A girlfriend perhaps?” The waitress asked, possibly trying to get information on whether or not he was single. He looked down at his drawing and his voice becomes tight with annoyance. “Yes, she was my fiancé, she died a few years ago. If you don’t mind, I’d like to enjoy my meal.” He looks up at her to see her blushing with embarrassment. She mumbles an apology and scurries off, earning a sigh from him. He tucks into the meal while keeping his ears pricked, listening for more information. The little waitress had distracted him and now the café was silent, with tension hanging in the air.
Zia's comment made Ryan laugh at himself, taking a minute to collect himself afterwards. "Yeah, that's some pretty damn useful advise," he said to her. "You wouldn't happen to know anyone that could give a few pointer's would you? Unless I fall into a vat of mysterious chemicals or get bitten by a magical wolf and gain super senses of some kind that increase my hearing and sight, I don't see anyway I'm going to improve my tracking skills anytime soon," the young hunter continued.
Suddenly, at that very moment, Ryan realized a mistake. Something he had forgotten and only now remembered. "Crap. My sandwich," he said aloud before quickly turning around to the counter and picking his meal up. It was then that he noticed the very muscular and large man who the woman at the register was flirting with. A short look and the young man was immediately intimidated. Doing his best to avoid looking directly in the man's direction, Ryan picked up his now cold sandwich and returned to Zara, Zia, and Zoelle.
Once he was sitting down again, the unskilled hunter noticed Zia's anxious mood thanks mostly to Zoelle asking her. "Yeah, are you okay? You're not looking so hot... I mean you are hot in like the attractive sense, but um... I was, uh... Y'know... Ahhh!" Filled with shame and embarrassment, Ryan's head crashed against the tabletop as he released a quiet groan. Why couldn't he just keep his mouth shut.
"I'm..." Zia began glancing at the large male who had just entered the cafe, he was an obvious Lycan. She tapped her fingers in the table even faster, her nails hitting the surface repeatedly. "I'm fine, just taking things in," Zia, in a way, lied, not telling the entire truth. The large male made her a bit nervous reminding of the males that took over her pack and some males that she had met over the years. Zia glanced back to the group, trying to regain her calm composure. Then, as she took a deep breath she realized what Ryan could be, a werewolf hunter, it probably wasn't true but it was enough to put Zia on edge. She didn't have many memories of them but had heard stories of them killing entire packs, pups and all. If Ryan was a Lycan hunter, Zia and Zara would have to tread carefully. Also, Zia would hate to kill Ryan, she found him funny. Zia found herself jumping to conclusions and she calmed herself down again. She realized she had been gripping the table, her claw-like nails leaving scratches in the soft wood. "I'm sorry for that," Zia said with a hint of nervousness in her voice. She kept an eye on Ryan, the grey, almost silver orbs tracking his every move. Her suspicions had already caused her to distrust him, this is why Zia was horrible at making friends.
The devil said to the warrior. "You will be swept away in the storm," To which the warrior replied. "I am the storm,"
Zoelle
You are a vampire. Own it, live it, love it!
A fifth, and most definitely, unmissable presence eventually slunk through the cafe's entrance. Zoelle's grayed vision peeling away from those gathered at the same table only to land upon the fresh meat. Another Lycan. Her upper lip would somewhat quiver, corners tugging as she almost sought to match his gaze. Why were so many mutts filtering into this town. Yes, there was a war to happen... But surely, the amount of Lycans necessary was not as great as had been seen.
"Yeah, that's some pretty damn useful advise. You wouldn't happen to know anyone that could give me a few pointers could you?" Zoelle, barely shifted her gaze to answer the human, she had nothing of use to offer him, and continued to watch as the distanced male order himself a sandwich, cake slice, cookie and coffee. What an appetite.
"Eli." She had caught the man offer a name for his order, but, by his posture, tone and contemplation, it wasn't his real calling. "Crap. My sandwich." Ryan, the red-headed human, soon puttered lightly to himself before sauntering off, and gathering his sandwich. His sudden realization and reaction of the larger, more buff man merely brought a chuckle to Zoelle's lips. Oh, humans were certainly entertaining creatures.
Eventually, both males went their separate ways. Ryan returned to sit at the table, and 'Eli' went to sit at a different table, one that was mid-ranged to the small group. When the vampire soon peeled her gaze from the dog she looked to Zia once more. The female was still fidgety and seemingly nervous as the new presence had entered. "Yeah, are you okay? You're not looking so hot. I mean, you are hot, in like the attractive sense. But, uhm. I was. Uh. Y'know. Ahh!" The babbling slunk through one ear and out the other as Zoelle let violet lips part, gentle smile to take over as she watched the woman.
"I'm. I'm fine. Just taking things in." The light tapping of nails upon table to be heard as Zoelle simply cocked her head to one side. She didn't believe it. Not in the slightest. Zara had seemingly entered a dazed world of her own, possibly listening to the trio converse, but remaining silent herself. This, wasn't of interest to Zoelle as she watched the darker lyan dig her nails across the tables surface some. "I'm sorry for that." Zia soon offered, her voice filled with a flighty nature as she caught the distrustful glance to the human nearby.
"Alright. Zia, my dear, let us both go get some fresh air," Zoelle spoke lightly, her voice somewhat bland of intention as she slowly arose from her spot. "Ryan, dove, please do keep Zara company." She'd toss the closest male a half-smile, before moving around the table, she was interested in what Zia had to say away from the others. Her curiosity piquing at what triggered the sudden flight response in the Lycan, and she made it clear through her posture, speech and actions that she held no intention of ill-will to the woman.
.:. OOC: Since Zara has not been on for a week, we will very faintly ghost her, but nothing of major impact. She will predominantly be left where she is staring off into La La land until she possibly returns and posts .:.
Zara listened and watched everything that happened around her. A new scent suddenly hit her nose as the bell to the cafe rang. She turned her head towards the new lycan in the room. Shifting back to her position, she listened in to the conversation between the lycan and the cashier. From what she could hear, his name was Eli. Taking note of this, she wondered if he was also here to serve the pack. This thought reminded her of the note that was in her pocket from the council. She had to go there eventually, but she was quite enjoying herself with these people in the cafe. What if I don't go to the pack and stay here? The thought floated through her mind before she quickly made it go away. No, that'd be crazy. They asked me to go for a reason, so I will. However, that doesn't mean I can't come visit, right?
Zara was brought out of her thoughts when Zoelle mentioned her name. Her eyes flicked to the female as she asked Ryan to keep her company before moving to Zia. A quick glance at the claw-like nail marks in the table said it all. Zara nodded at Zoelle and looked back at Ryan and smiled, "So, how you gonna keep me company? Are you gonna tell me a story? Or will that make you..." She leaned closer to him and said her next word a little quieter, "stutter?" She slightly raised an eyebrow at him as she placed her chin on one hand, slightly cocking her head to the side. She did find him to be attractive, for a human. She never would have believed she would go for a human, but things happen. Also, he was funny, which was a plus. However, there was something a little off about him being a hunter. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but hopefully she would find an answer that satisfied her.
Ryan's cheeks turned a much brighter shade of red as he was left alone with Zara. Out of the three he had found her to be the most attractive, most likely due to their mutually shared hair color. He couldn't help it, the sight of another ginger always seemed to make him drool, though thankfully not literally. His friends back in high school had made fun of him for it sometimes by telling him it was an "animal impulse to continue his species." Gross teenage sexual jokes aside, the clueless hunter was in fact happy to get some alone time with her, no matter how nervous and embarrassed he was.
Then she asked what he would do to pass the time. The pause before her last word caused way more suspense for Ryan than she most likely intended as his heart seemed to skip a beat. It was only for a moment, but to him it seemed to last a lifetime as he waited to hear it. Her leaning in closer and listening to that seductive whisper really only made it worse, as he was able to closely admire her beautiful facial features. God, she's so pretty. "W-well I, um... I don't think I have any, uh, interesting stories of any real noteworthiness. My life's pretty darn boring really," he replied with a nervous laugh. "H-how about you tell me more about yourself? You already know what I do for work. What do you do? Got any hobbies?"
Zara noticed Ryan's blush, which made a small smirk form on her face. She noticed him observing her features more closely now that they were closer. She ended up doing the same, taking note of his features. He is pretty cute, especially when he gets all embarrassed like this. His response to her question she found a little funny as he stumbled over his words. They were quite close to each other, especially for people who just met. She looked down at the table where her hand was, place close to her elbow, before looking back up. Her eyes caught his for a few seconds before she broke it by looking out the window.
"I don't really have a specific job yet, though I have an offer open." Her gaze flicked over to where Zoelle was, "I've hunted on my own before. For vicious creatures, but I've taken multiple self defense courses, so I've been able to protect myself." Thinking about her journey she had on her way to Toronto after leaving home, she looked away from Zoelle and back to Ryan. She smiled at him, "I have a few hobbies, a few I can't really say in public." Zara winked at Ryan as she finished her sentence. "How about you?" Zara leaned in a tad bit closer as she was curios at what his answer would be.
OOC: I just re-read Zara's past and she has vampire blood on her hands ^^' oops, I forgot about that, buuuuuuut she won't hurt Zoelle so you good
"Well maybe you can show me sometime when there's no one else around?" Ryan replied with an innocent smile, the innuendo completely going over his head. When she asked him of his own hobbies, the young man squirmed in his seat slightly before replying, "Well, um, I'm kind of a huge geek. I spend a lot of my free time... Actually probably way too much of it, playing video games and reading comic books. God I feel like such a dork admitting that out loud to a pretty girl like you."
If Zara thought that she had seen Ryan become as red in the face as he could possibly be, she was soon proven very wrong as realization of what he had just said out loud hit him. Oh no. What have I done? I just called her pretty! In front of her face! After only knowing her for like five minutes! This is bad. She's going to think I'm so frickin' clingy and now I've completely missed any chance of impressing her. Abort. Abort. Abort! Despite the absolute panic going on inside his head though, the inexperienced hunter didn't make any other kind of movement or changes in facial expression besides the color in his face. One might be reminded of a deer when in the headlights of an oncoming truck.
OOC: Well that makes things a slight bit awkward for you and Zoelle. Don't know if it's as awkward as the one with Ryan, but still awkward.
Zia gave a slight nod to Zoelle, thankful the vampire would get her out of this situation, which was quickly turning awkward. She stood up from her chair, sliding it back into place after it was vacant. "Zara, we must get together again sometime, it was lovely meeting you," She said to the redhead werewolf, a slight smile playing on her red lips. She decided to address Ryan because he was still making her nervous. It was a tight feeling in her chest as well as a light one in her stomach, but the mutual feeling of dread tied it all together. She let out a little sigh, forcing all the breath out of her lungs. Zia breathed in the scents of Ryan and Zara once more, especially the hunter's if she smelt him in the forest she would avoid him. Watch the company you keep Zara, I hope your anniversary present isn't a silver bullet to the head Zia thought to herself. She had no idea why she was getting so upset, she hadn't known these people for long. It might be that they had been her first chance for actual friends in ages. Zia wondered what her mother and father would think of her having a vampire as a companion. It was no reason for Zia to discriminate, they were both more powerful than humans anyway. "I'm going to the trails Zoelle, it's what I've been dying to do since I've gotten here," Zia gave a slight smirk as she turned her head to the gothic vampire. The Lycan was truly grateful for company, whoever it was. ///Exit to trails// Addressed: Zara Bancroft Zoelle Mentioned: @ryan
"Zara, we must get together again sometime, it was lovely meeting you," Zoelle would listen and watch as Zia arose and tucked in her chair. Smiling the slightest, she would dip her head in a nod before taking her leave with Zia. She had merely planned a light stroll down the street, a means of fresh air and freedom for the Lycan. But, it appeared as though those plans would change as they exited the building.
"I'm going to the trails Zoelle, it's what I've been dying to do since I've gotten here," Zia soon chirped as she seemingly smirked. The unknown cause bringing the violet and black covered Vampire to tilt her head. Light voice soon being offered, "I hope you do not mind if I tag along." It clearly wasn't a question, but still it was rested in the open before she peered through thw Cafe's glass door.
Zara and Ryan were already chattering and getting closer, someyhing that sent an awkward chill up the pale womans spinr before she began to trail after the Lycan. She had plenty to ask from pure curiosity, for example, she was curious of the others sudden discomfort.
Zara grinned slightly when she noticed her innuendo go completely over Ryan's head. After what he said about his hobbies, a little giggle escaped Zara as she saw Ryan's face become even more red. He is such a dork, I like it. "Well it's a good thing that this pretty girl is a geek herself. What do you play? Do you like consoles or computers more?" Her dark eyes searched his face as she awaited for an answer. His face almost seemed to be in shock from his last sentence.
She saw Zia and Zoelle leaving. She smiled at Zia and replied, "Yes, I would like that." Then nodded at Zoelle as a good-bye. I wonder why Zia is so put off. She seemed to have an opioning of Ryan that was unspoken. As the two females left the cafe, Zara turned her head and focused on Ryan again.
Zara had no idea what she had unleashed when she had asked Ryan what games he liked to play and what consoles he liked to enjoy them on. His inner geek now awakened, Ryan replied, "Well I started out as a console gamer with the original Xbox, playing games like Halo, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, et cetera. You know, the games every mom would get mad about when they saw their son playing something so violent." The young man let out a small chuckle as he remembered the old days when the world seemed so much simpler. "When the 360 came out I was probably one of the first kids in my town to get in line at our local store. I can't even remember the name of the store, though I know it wasn't a GameStop. Anyway, that doesn't matter. So yeah, played a lot of Mass Effect series, Batman: Arkham City, Halo 3, and Reach on that. It was only once the next generation of consoles began to roll out that I met some friends who would get me into PC gaming. Played the heck out of XCOM and the Dark Souls series. Too bad I had to sell my rig before the third game in the series released because money got so tight."
It was at that moment, Ryan realized just how much he had been talking and with an embarrassed smile he scratched the back of his neck and said, "Oops. Sorry, you probably just wanted a simple one sentence answer and I went on a whole big rant of my life history. I'm such a goof. What about you? What do you prefer?"
OOC: Oops. Forgot the mention thing. Just going to edit that in.
